    Businesses see connected mobility as an important driver for productivity. This is true at several levels:

    • Better management of the vehicle fleet


    Intelligent Transport Systems - ITS are used to monitor the fleet, optimize its trips and communicate quickly with drivers, etc.

    • Reducing transport times


    Companies have several options: increased use of video conferencing, development of carpooling, organization of a travel plan for employees, telecommuting, etc. There are several objectives: reduce CO2 emissions and travel expenses, maximize working times and the physical condition of staff, reduce parking infrastructure within the company, etc.

    Example: Near to Lille, insurance company AG2R La Mondiale rolled out an innovative travel plan in partnership with the SNCF, ADEME and Transpole, which geolocated the site's 900 employees. Based on this data and employee surveys, the company implemented a multi-point plan: paying for public transport passes, creating a carpooling scheme, building a garage for two-wheeled vehicles and installing showers and changing rooms for employees arriving by bike or on foot. Nearly a third of employees have abandoned their cars in favor of an alternative mode of transportation.


    Companies can develop a flexible, responsive organization in project teams combining geographically-remote talent and and encourage employees to work together on wikis, collaborative platforms with tools for communicating, sharing and producing documents, interacting with partners or customers, etc.

    Example: Société Générale has launched a collaborative banking relationship platform in France. This virtual space is designed for communicating with the bank's customers - and non customers - alongside the dedicated Twitter feed.

    • Increasing employees' working time by enabling them to connect to the company anywhere and at any time


    Smartphones, tablets, notebooks and other ultra-light PCs are helping to blur the barrier between personal and professional life. According to a Tissot/Opinionway survey carried out in 2011, 73 % of French managers work away from the office: 58 % in the evening after the working day, 50 % on the weekend, 38 % while on vacation and 26 % when off sick.

    Example: German tuning company Brabus has converted a Mercedes van into a mobile office and meeting room equipped with all the latest devices.
